After graduating from London University with honours degree in Science ( Physics ,Maths & Life Sciences ), Nigel trained for one year in accountancy with Coopers & Lybrand and then went into the London Stock Market , initially as a financial analyst but thereafter in distribution ,trading and corporate finance ( both with publicly listed companies and private equity ).
He became a senior executive at HSBC James Capel ( 10 years ) , a Principal of Morgan Stanley investment bank ( 2 years ), then a board member and member of strategy and management committees of NationsBank Panmure ( 10 years ) , then head of downstream investment banking at Nomura ( 4 years ) and completing his full-time career as President of Canaccord Capital Corporation U.K. / Europe and Vice-Chaiman of the global business ( 8 years ).
Having retired from full-time investment banking , Nigel became an Advisory Board member and private equity team member of Kleinwort Benson merchant bankers and a senior advisor to Smith & Williamson Corporate finance.
He is married with 2 grown up children ( one working for a very large European Private Equity fund , the other in a marketing role with a charity organisation).
His interests include careful investing, golf, rugby , Georgian architecture and motor sport.
